    The mountain Hornindalsrokken is situated at the end of a valley branching off to the north from the main valley of Hornindal in Sogn og Fjordane (county), Norway. Its peak marks the border between Sogn og Fjordane and Møre og Romsdal counties, and rises 1529 meters above sea level. Hornindalsrokken and the Geiranger fjord are 15 km (about 10 miles) apart, so the title "Hornindalsrokken, Geiranger Fjord" is somewhat misleading. "Hornindalsrokken, Nordfjord, Norway" would be better. Nordfjord is one of the fjords of Sogn og Fjordane, and it has given name to the district in the northern part of this county. The valley (municipality) Hornindal is then part of the Nordfjord district.

    I had a sister-in-law who lived at Sogn og Ford for a while and I recall her telling me that in the winter that valley was so deep that no sun shone there at all, even though it was located south of the area responsible for Norway being called The Land of the Midnight Sun. Also being told that Bergen had a reputation as being very rainy. This was in 1960 when my husband's father was retired from being harbor master for Trondheim and her husband was official architect for Bergen.

    Grunn til å tro at dette kan være Ulven leir ved Bergen. Vi har flere bilder av familiemedlemmer som tjenestegjorde der eller var på øvelser der i årene mellom 1905 og 1920. Trærne i bakgrunnen stemmer også bra med trær som danner bakgrunn på egne bilder.
