24 Henry street is now this Champion Sports store, and is indeed directly opposite Moore Street, here on the OS 25" map. It's all wrong for this picture, which is on a street corner with tram tracks (Henry street had no trams).

Niall McAuley Browsed through 17 March 1915 edition of the Freeman's Journal but could find no mention of the theatre. However, this is the description of the (3,000 seater) Coliseum in the Irish Times on Wednesday, 31 March 1915: "... The main entrance will be in Henry street, where there is an imposing facade, designed in Neo-Grec style, executed in white glazed Carrara ware. The iron and glass verandah projecting over the footway has been designed to harmonise with this facade, and the glass to this and thw whole of the windows will be in coloured decorative leaded work. " Does that sound like a description of this building? And could it possibly hold 3,000?!

Clearly the Cork Coliseum, see reference to Cork ales and "Opera House"

McCurtain Street, Cork, (formerly King Street), site of the Coliseum Picture Theatre, on the other hand, did have tram tracks

The site on the corner where the bookseller is was redeveloped in 1921 - so before then. Name: BATCHELOR & HICKS Building: CO. DUBLIN, DUBLIN, O'CONNELL STREET UPPER, NO. 037 (PROVINCIAL BANK) Date: 1921-1922 Nature: New bank on corner site. Classical. Contractor: G. & T. Crampton.

There's a member of the Dublin Metropolitan Police "C" District from Fitzgibbon Street Station (closed in the recent round of closures) wearing full rain gear. I wouldn't like to have been controlling that junction for eight hours in the rain.

The Parnell monument was unveiled in July 1911, it looks nearly finished here.

The wagon with ads for a cinema/theatre on Gt. Brunswick St. is presumably for the Queen's Theatre on what is now Pearse St,, later temporary home of the Abbey. The Palace, later the Academy, was not a cinema until the 1920s. ’In England there is a growing demand for cinematograph entertainments’, announced Dublin’s Evening Mail in February 1908. ‘Every important town has its permanent “picture show”, and the Colonial Picture Combine see no reason why Ireland should not be adequately represented in this respect.’ The occasion of this statement was the opening of what was soon being advertised as the People’s Popular Picture Palace at the former Queen’s Theatre in Dublin’s Brunswick Street (now Pearse Street).
