  These old stereocards are great - but the 3D on this one is very weak. For those that can't use the parallel eye method to see the 3D there is a website that will convert into other 3D formats

Geo. Wingfield bust (LOC)

  George Wingfield (1876-1959) was an Arkansas native who settled in Nevada in 1896. He became one of the most powerful men in the state, building a fortune in mining, banking, ranching, and hotels. His financial empire collapsed in 1932, and he declared bankruptcy in 1935. Recovering from the disaster, he was able to build a second (though smaller) fortune, and remained an influential figure in Nevada for the rest of his life. The photo above may date from 1912, when Wingfield was offered (but refused) an appointment to the U.S. Senate, following the death of Republican Senator George S. Nixon, Wingfield's close friend and former business partner. Here's a web page about George Wingfield.

  That's my great grandfather. We used to spend summers at Spanish Springs Ranch (see that web page link for info on that). You can also visit www.wingfield.org/ for info on the Wingfield family history. On the "stories" page, there is a blurb about George Wingfield.

  That's cool. My great-grandfather was a miner in Goldfield- probably one of Wingfield's. Most of the family is still there in the cometary.
