    Great photo. Lady seems unimpressed.

Hehe, yes, I love the expressions! I like pictures of people standing at their door; here's one in my collection: www.flickr.com/photos/adambangor/4429075925/in/set-721576...

Fine, she'll come to the door for a photo, but don't expect her to put down the knitting needles. I added her to my gallery, "Knitting Across the Commons." She'll be in good company there!

Such wonderful expressions ... and a great simple composition by the photographer, using the brick pattern as a frame.

I love these shop fronts. I'd date this to about 1910 or so. Shame it's all gone now (according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hartlepool ). There's a nice general view of the street on the Frith site - www.francisfrith.com/west-hartlepool/photos/lynn-street-1...

My great grandfather owned a grocers/newsagents on Lynn Street (No. 141 - Smart's?) c.1910. Would be good to see a photo of it if anyone knows if one exists.
