Welcome and thanks for visiting. This is one of a large series of photographs made by Lewis Hine for the National Child Labor Committee, as part of a campaign to illustrate the working conditions of children in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century. We have uploaded several other photographs by Hine, and invite you to take a look. The Amoskeag Manufacturing Company was a large textile manufacturer that operated in Manchester, New Hampshire, for over a century from 1831 until 1936.
