memorialpark

Another neat LoC photo.

Ah, back when people were allowed to do "dangerous" things :-)

This is right across the street from St. Patrick's Cathedral in Norwich. When I was in school there in the late 70's-late 80's, we would have recess in that park when the church parking lot was filled during the day when a major mass or funeral was taking place.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure if you stood on this same corner today, it would look exactly the same. Norwich doesn't change much.

I live just down Union St and walk around this park almost everyday. The building in the background (center-right) with the tower is painted a different color now, and the iron fence around the park is now a dark green, but most everything else is the same. The trees are taller now, and we can't burn leaves anymore.

That's where Global warming started.

This is one of the three Model 28-2 which was delivered to Soviet Union as pattern aircraft for their GST production. Only this one was fully built, the other two went as major parts. Stig

Very cool photo! The large open square on the lower right is now Memorial Park in San Diego, bounded by Ocean View Blvd. on the top, Logan Ave. on the bottom, 28th St. on the left and 30th St. on the right. Today, Interstate 5 cuts up the lower left corner of this area.

The church is St. Jude's Church.

What is even more interesting about this lovely shot is what is not there! The Trinity pavilion is still to be built, Civil Service sports ground is to come and the magnificent Memorial Park is yet to be built.

Built 1897/98 www.dia.ie/works/view/36217/building/CO.+DUBLIN,+DUBLIN,+...

The boathouse was "being built" in 1898 when the boat club moved from Ringsend to Islandbridge.
