  i had no idea this picture existed. The print is reversed. The Eagle Hotel is on the far right, the building with Pompanoosuc Mills next to it. Almost none of the other buildings exist. The photo was taken from the corner of Park St, which I can determine because the State House is behind those granite posts- the only building downtown with a setback.

  I hoped that was a clock half way up the street on the right, but alas it's a sign for "Agency for xxx xxx Cycles". Which might help with the date? See megazoom ...

  beachcomber australia That's a sign for Rudge Whitworth Cycles. They were formed in 1894. So hanging there and having rusty streaks would put this a good few years later. www.icollector.com/A-Rudge-Whitworth-Cycles-Agency-Enamel...

  Again thanks to megazoom at full blast, you can just see the telegraph wire from that single (!) thingy on top of the pole, stretching down to another thingy above Irwin's Leather Store which is also the Post Office. Obvious really, but fascinating that such detail is there on the glass negative.
