    The 36th in 1917 was composed of both the Texas and Oklahoma National Guard. That's why the divisional patch is composed of an arrowhead (Oklahoma) and the letter T (Texas).

    Interestingly, Cantor is standing on the top hatch and turret of an M1917 Light Tank, the American license-built version of the French Renault FT-17 Tank (the M1917 is distinguished from the FT-17 by the lifting hook on the hull, noted on the photo above). Presumably the tank was in Columbus Circle for a postwar display.
