The vehicle is an LVT (4), nicknamed “Buffalo” in British service.* It is not a tank but an amphibious transport vehicle — “LVT (4)” standing for Landing Vehicle, Tracked (Mark 4). * It would have been called an Alligator by American troops, but this one belonged to a British unit.

Location is about 51.5223° N 3.4403° E. The wooden structure on the left is a large groyne (wooden posts to prevent sand being washed away from the beach) officially called “Zuiderhoofd” but better known locally as “’t Grôôt Ôôd” (or in standard Dutch: “het Groot Hoofd”).
