This photo shows the dunes (not the beach) at Westkapelle, at the foot of the German radar station on a dune-top — the structure at top left is part of that. The landing craft on the right were beached and left behind after the fighting; they allow the photo to be dated to soon after (or possibly on) 6 November 1944: there exists a photo dated 6 November 1944 that shows only the left craft (as viewed) on the dyke, without the other one present yet.

Approximate location is 51.5223° N 3.4421° E.

The Canadian National Library and Archive has only one likely match on their database for Canadian's who served in the Great War - a Lieutenant Charles Alvarez. Unfortunately no other details are recorded - not even a date of birth or place of enlistment. www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/cef/001042-119.01-e... As far as I can tell the 32nd Battalion was a Reserve Unit and did not actually serve in a Theatre of War.
