Not only was Noel Godfrey Chavasse a true hero in the real sense of the word for the work he did for the medical team of the 10th Battalion (Liverpool Scottish) but it is worth pointing out that he won his TWO VC's without firing a shot.

Noel Chavasse attended Liverpool College, the school that both my children have attended. There is a portrait of him in the school library and a bust of him in the chapel. The school's Combined Cadet Force has a Chavasse Platoon named after him. His bravery is also commemorated as the centrepiece of a memorial to Victoria Cross winners in Liverpool University's Abercromby Square. His brother Aidan's name is on the panels dedicated to the missing of the King's (Liverpool) Regiment on the Menin Gate.
