Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Lithgow, and we'd love to have this added to the group! -- Found in a search. (?)

Read all about it - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/15002128?searchTerm=zig zag railway

That's a great find beachcomberaustralia. What a detailed account! Lots of useful info in there. Something worth consideration - if the accident happened on Tuesday 8 December 1908 at 7pm, then the above photo could not possibly have been taken on that day as it is in daylight. The photo must have been taken during the cleanup the day after on Wednesday 9 December. The date on the photo will be referencing the date of the accident, not the date the photo was taken.

I was about to edit my post with just that point.! Yes, Trove really gives extra dimensions to these photos.

Good observation about the daylight. We have changed the date to 9 December 1908
