  The Lincoln Memorial celebrates 100 years this month. Construction of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., took almost a decade – from 1914 to 1922. Architect Henry Bacon's drawing from 1917 sketches the setting for the monumental sculpture.

Lincoln Life Mask (LOC)

  digital.library.cornell.edu/cgi/t/text/pageviewer-idx?c=c... is an article from Century Magazine (1881) that describes the making of this life mask - which is held by the Library of Congress, by the way. memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/stern-lincoln/object-rot... is a presentation of the mask that allows you to view it from different angles.

  Very interesting.. I just skimmed the article, but it seems to be about the 1860 mask, not this one. I suppose there are other copies of the mask as the LOC's is metal and this one seems to be plaster.

  The Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery appears to have plaster copies of both masks. See www.npg.si.edu/exh/travpres/lincs.htm. They have also done laser scans to produce 3D models, although I haven't been able to use the models on the old laptop I am using at the moment. See 3d.si.edu/browser and 3d.si.edu/downloads/27
