Mr Du Faur lived in Turramurra - adb.anu.edu.au/biography/du-faur-frederick-eccleston-3448 - and surveyed and supervised the road to Bobbin Head. I think this is not the current Bobbin Head Road, but what is now known as the Bobbin Head Walking Track. Interestingly, National Parks have sent a 4WD down the track with a GoogleMapsStreetView camera on top, so its all snoopable from the comfort of your desk armchair, without heat, insects, snakes and rogue wildlife! I am not sure if this is the right location, but it is the only one I could find with a built-up embankment on both sides of the track, and hewn rocks on the left. I think it is almost at the top of Bobbin Hill/Head - there is a concrete WW2 bunker or lookout nearby - goo.gl/maps/iM3xK Challenge to anyone find a better match!

No. I do not think this photo is actually at Bobbin Head. Somewhere nearby, maybe. There is no flat ground here. At least some of the flat ground at Bobbin Head is natural, not reclaimed.
