Hmm...not sure I understand the date. According to several sources, this poster wasn't released until 1942, and the BSA campaign didn't begin until 1942, as well. Besides, it doesn't make sense to have a US flag on a war poster until after December of 41 anyway, I'm thinking. Pretty sure the date is wrong on this one.

Thanks! For now, we’re gathering the suggestions and corrections, but holding off on making changes until more comments come in.

1943. The top four flags, USA, GB, USSR and ROC, being positioned together corresponds with the meetings between Roosevelt, Stalin, Churchill, and Chiang-Kai-Shek in 1943.

I have to agree with lpress and mrpibb; I don't think the United States would be so firmly represented on a war poster in 1941. The phrase "UNITED NATIONS" perplexes me; the official United Nations wasn't formed until 1945, but this usage of the phrase seems to be more of an informal description of a confederation of nations with similar goals, not an official UN poster; if I'm wrong, then the photo would have to date from 1945, I would say.

1911... the guy on the right is wearing a 1913 sweater.

Thanks for catching this, douglasleecoon. I'm having trouble reading the date on the negative. It's in reverse on the top right side. So what we can do is defer to our Bain default date span, "1910 to 1915" just to cover all possibilities.

The comments on a photo on the shorpy website says that college students in those days would wear the year of their class graduation on their athletic uniforms. That particular picture was of a swim team with 1911, 1912, & 1913 on the chests of men in the same photo. The man in this picture is probably from the class of 1913, but the date of 1911 is likely to be right.
