The Washington Times., July 29, 1916, HOME EDITION, Page 9, col 2 chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn84026749/1916-07-29/ed-... reported that Marquis Inouye had just been replaced as Japanese Ambassador to Britain and would be arriving in the U.S. the next day. He is one of the foremost of Japan's public men. In Japan they do not select men for the Diplomatic Corps because they voted the right ticket at the last election."
