  my memory of Scholls were shaped wooden flip flop sandals and the white wooden cloggs worn by clinical staff..

  Foxglove Exactly the same memory as me. The pair my mother wore were a wooden sole with a single white or fawn colour adjustable leather strap.

  Me too! A physiotherapist encouraged me to wear the wooden ones to help after breaking a leg twice in the late 1960s. Still waddle like a duck ... I can see Mr Poole (or his son?) and his equipment in the reflection.
