    wonderful. This is after the outbreak of the WWI, Aug 1914, as her funnels have already been painted all black, and they were repainted back to her original color again sometime in the fall. In 1915 when she was sunk it is generally believed they were still the original color. You can see she is high in the water, indicating this is the end of the trip as coal and supplies have been used up. This photo is attributed to 1914 based on the visible modifications.     that's interesting because the funnels certainly appear to be a single color. The red may be harder to distinguish from the black top quarter, but this photo shows no discernible difference on the funnel unlike below and above the waterline. . War broke out in August, so there should be no reason why it would be solid colored already in March. It makes you wonder if the photo could have been tampered with in some way or if for some reason lost to history the funnels would have been painted early in the year, or these lighting conditions just make them appear uniform.
