Detailed history - www.jenolancaves.org.au/about/caves-house-history/
And this wiki article is good - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenolan_Caves_House
Best guess is this photo is between 1897 and 1917. From the newness of the stone and trees, possibly close to 1897.
And I bet one of those gents is Walter Liberty Vernon, the NSW Government Architect, who designed the building. -

Yes! 1898 it is - this very photo appeared on page 31 of the Australian Town and Country Journal of 20/08/1898.

Mr Vernon visited on 1/07/1898 according to - trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/14170400?searchTerm=ve...
Interesting that the building is referred to as the "new accomodation house" as in the title of this photo. I wonder if that is him in the pale suit ? adb.anu.edu.au/biography/vernon-walter-liberty-8916 -

I was talking to an old SUSS member today and she was trying to track down some old slides they had. Do you remember if Jenolan sold slides from the shop of some of the caves? SUSS had a small research group and business group that took slides to sell there.
Did you ever buy one, or remember if they were sold individually or in a packaged strip.
It would be nice if you or someone happened to have one, or a shot of the display in the shop of the slides for sale.
just trying to add to the SUSS history...
