    A "Britain's Day" celebration on December 7, 1918 was planned to honor Britain's contributions to the war, with a public meeting planned at New York's Hippodrome for December 8. " A poster done at the close of the war period was quite as unique from the standpoint of pictorial design as his Food Administration posters had been for their lettering.This was America's Tribute to Britain issued on England's Day December 7th 1918. It showed the American eagle swooping low in its flight to drop a wreath of laurel on the head of the British lion. The design was archaistic and done in masses of black against the light background formed by a beautiful grained panel of wood. In the figures of the eagle and lion there was slight but clear delineation effected by firmly drawn lines of white against the mass of black. From a pictorial standpoint this was the most original design Cooper had executed up to that time. In all the annals of art, primitive and present, oriental and occidental, the precedent for that lion and that eagle cannot be found.
