    "Lord Mayo was stoutly built, with a frank, good-looking face, upon which a smile generally was to be found" - from his obituary following his assassination at Port Blair on the Andaman Islands in 1872. The photograph doesn't seem to have captured his smile.

    Contrary to An Phoblacht above, Joe Clarke's birth is registered in Dec 1882, father William a sailor.

    Recorded as a Van Driver at his marriage to Anne Hughes in 1909.

    He is 18 and with his parents in the 1901 census, a Messenger.

    From the DIB:
    they had two sons and one daughter. After her death, he married (30 May 1949) Elizabeth Delaney.

    The title Lady Gore Booth would not apply to Constance or Eva, it would be their mother Georgina (56 in 1901, surely too old) or Josslyn's wife Mary Sybil née L'Estrange Malone. Mary S was 26 in 1911, and was Lady Gore Booth from 12 June 1907 when she married Josslyn. She lived until 1968.
