Did part of this ship interior end up in a Northumberland pub when it was broken up?? I'm probably way off mind!

It's possible... Parts of the engine room controls in this photo www.flickr.com/photos/twm_news/5621049717/in/photostream/ became part of the collection at Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums when Mauretania was dismantled,so it may be that the pub did have sections of it.

I'm sure it was a hotel or pub in the Alnwick area - too far for me to do a pub crawl. ;)

You are nearly right.....the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick has a whole dining room from the Olympic (sister ship of the Titanic) which was rescued when she was broken up at Blyth. A few years ago a whole barn full of artefacts was discovered at Buston (nr Alnwick) and there is more in a pub in Derbyshire....so there are bits of the Olympic everywhere!

Published before 1923 - no copyright

Yes, we believe this work to be in the public domain due to its publication date.

For 1918 I'd say that is at least middle class, maybe even edging towards the upper half of middle class.
  • Roger said:
Is it possible to change the copyright for the pictures published before 1923? "No known copyright restrictions" sounds vague.
  • UA Archives | Upper Arlington History said:
"No known copyright restrictions" is the rights statement required for all institutions participating in The Commons on Flickr, so we can't change this. You could certainly share your comments with the good folks at Flickr, though :)

What wonderful and delightful shots. And what a good idea/ interesting concept to post them to ask for more information for the NAI collection. Have you had many results?
