Lancia Armoured car converted for use on railway by the Railway Protection Repair and Maintenance Corps at Inchicore Works from 1921 to 1923. Approx 50 in total have been produced.

Thanks for that, Peter! D'you know where any of them are now (if any survived)?

No armoured Lancia in the rail version survived, but three trucks in the highway version are still existing and can be found in the following museums:
- Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, Holywood
- Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) Museum, Belfast
- Museo della Motorizz. Militare della Cecchignola, Rome, Italy
The base of the armoured vehicle was the Lancia Triota truck. More information about the armoured Lancia on rails can be found in the following book:
Martin, Karl (2002): "Irish Army Vehicles, transport and armour since 1922".
Karl Martin. ISBN 0-9543413-0-9 (see pages 5 - 8).

billh35 You must have had to have nerves of steel in this far more "free range" traffic environment.
