Mich No, No 4 Wharf would now be sitting in the midst of what we now call Barangaroo - the following website shows the building of these fine wharves in 1922.

I used to work in Caltex House in Kent Street in the 1960s and these wharves were still there then.

beachcomber australia You're right the picture would have been taken from High Street, again back in my despatch boy days (ie when I worked in Caltex House at 167 Kent Street) I explored the whole area pretty thoroughly, mainly during my lunch-hour - they were lovely buildings - in fact the whole area held a great fascination for me. I especially liked the idea that the buildings allowed access at two levels, obviously for handling cargo quicker and more easily. The bridge you can see in the right background (I've noted it) facilitated this. There were a number of such bridges along Hickson Road. Again by cooincidence I went to school with a younger McEacharn - a descendant of the Malcolm McEacharn who started the shipping line.
