Rjones0856: Thanks for the information on Jerome H. Joyce, proprietor of the Hotel Joyce in Baltimore. According to the article on the you cited, Joyce was a "convivial and ebullient fellow with an enormous mustache and carefully cultivated Vandyke goatee." This seems to match the man in this photo! We will add some more information when we update.

Thanks for the flickr and photo posting. My great, grand uncle, Duncan A. Gillies was Jerome's brother-in-law. Duncan was married to Jerome's sister Margaret Hoslin Joyce (1869-1930) in January, 1887. It was Senator Joyce's wedding, and Baltimore's social event of the year.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Orteig
"Raymond Orteig (1870 – 6 June 1939) was a French American hotel owner in New York City in the early 20th century. He is best known for setting up the $25,000 Orteig Prize in 1919 for the first non-stop transatlantic flight between New York City and Paris, which was claimed by Charles Lindbergh eight years later in 1927."
This photo was clearly at the same location as a neighboring photo in the stream.

The date of 5/23/27 written on the negative relates to the occasion when the Orteig prize was won by Charles Lindbergh.

Thank you to the Bain employee that properly refiled the image in 1927, back to its 1925 proper place after copying.

Thanks swanq for the identification and noticing the date issue.
