«Guides de montagne. - Les cinq guides suisses engagés par la compagnie du Canadian Pacific et placés par elle dans ses hôtels des Montagnes Rocheuses, nous sont revenus par le transatlantique La Savoie. C'est la Gazette de Francfort qui nous l'apprend. Ils ont fait de très nombreuses ascensions sans avoir aucun accident grave à enregistrer. L'ascension la plus recherchée est, paraît-il, celle du "Sir Donald Smyth", bloc de rocher nu haut de 3180 mètres et situé à peu de distance du Grand Glacier. La station du chemin de fer d'où l'on part pour faire l'ascension, Glacier House, est elle-même à 1250 mètres d'altitude environ. Le site est tout à fait alpestre. Cette année une seule femme s'est risquée à gravir le Sir Donald Smyth; c'est une demoiselle Grace Raymond, de Boston. Elle est la deuxième personne de son sexe qui ait mis le pied au sommet de ce pic. La première était une anglaise, Mrs Burns, qui fit l'ascension l'an dernier.
