A nice 'close in' shot, very interesting picture of the old ship, thank you for sharing.

The Tsesarevich (Цесаревич) was a battleship of the Imperial Russian Navy, built in France by Compagnie des Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée à la Seine. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_battleship_Tsesarevich

The Tsar[e]vitch alongside 5th [...] Jetty (LOC)

  • The Library of Congress said:
Thanks for help with spellings and also spotting the photographer's name.
  • Dendroica cerulea said:
    Probably this battleship.
  • Black and white archive said:
We can still argue over the spelling. According to the OED it's either Tsarevich (no T in the middle) or Tsarewitch (W with a T).
  • Jim Rees said:
Except that the Russian spelling is apparently Цесаревич, which transliterates more closely as Tsesarevich.
  • FrigateRN said:
Never mind the spelling, it's a great old photograph, thank you for sharing.
