This is not a "Boeing 314," but instead a Pan American Airways Martin M-130 flying boat (reg. NC14714), better known as the "Hawaii Clipper." She'd disappear with 15 souls aboard on a flight from Guam to Manilla, on July 28, 1938. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_Clipper

RAH got a Distinguished Flying Cross by recovering a damaged B-26 from a small beach in Italy. The bomber crews felt there was inadequate space on the beach to take off but Bob got it off the ground and back to base by himself.

Another "Silverplate" B-29 (B-29-40-MO), USAAF Ser. No. 44-27354, named "Big Stink." It later would be re-named "Dave's Dream" (in the memory of bombardier Dave Stemple, killed in the crash of a B-29 [USAAF Ser. No. 42-65387]). On July 1, 1946, this B-29 (now as "Dave's Dream") would drop a "Fat Man"-type atomic bomb used in Test Able of Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll.
