    I have a parlor table almost identical to that. I bought it about 25 years ago from an old woman in Ft. Davis, Texas, who was going into a nursing home. She said her mother had bought it new from Montgomery Ward or Sears around 1900. I imagined it being shipped by train and then hauled by wagon.

    My mother in law had one like that too. We have a similar one we found in an old storage shed. I wonder if the lights on that tree are candles.

    You bet. I grew up in Germany and we always had real candles on our tree. We still keep this tradition alive to this day, although it does to freak out our Canadian born friends. As long as the tree is fresh, and kept under supervision, there is very little risk of a fire.
