Such a familiar site -- albeit sans blimps -- from my couple of years living and working in the Bay Area (1989-91). :)

Many visits here to PX (with gram), to air shows, and later, delivering pizzas on base. Got a speeding ticket there. Stupidly and without thinking, drove my delivery truck in front of a taxiing P-3, and got some angry gestures from the cockpit.

I used to fly in there, just not in blimps. Those hangars were HUGE!

Another great photo, many thanks for sharing. I acquired a couple of photos a few years ago of a gasometer being built at Waterford Gasworks. Mine look like they are much older then the date of your photo but I have no way to be certain.
