Many visits here to PX (with gram), to air shows, and later, delivering pizzas on base. Got a speeding ticket there. Stupidly and without thinking, drove my delivery truck in front of a taxiing P-3, and got some angry gestures from the cockpit.

US Navy NAF H-16 (BuNo A-1070) flying boat at Rockaway Beach Naval Air Station. Note the gas holder used to store hydrogen gas used as lifting gas for Navy airships and observation balloons at Rockaway NAS. This gas holder would be the site of some grief on May 5, 1919, when an aircraft based at Rockaway NAS would crash into it, resulting in the deaths of Ens. Hugh J.
