She entertained the troops and raised money to help wounded veterans. She toured the United States raising money for the war effort, although she had relatives fighting on both sides of the war – including her sons August Heink, a merchant sailor who had been impressed into the German submarine service, son Walter Schumann, Henry Heink and George Washington Schumann, all in the United States Navy."

The German courts decided the boys and daughter Marie could accompany her to America and that she could retain one-third of the money in Germany as she, rather than her deceased husband, had earned it. Her home in Germany was confiscated, and she had to buy it back. " Maybe this is her daughter Marie, born in 1896. One of her sons, a sailor, was in the audience. chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/search/pages/results/?state=&a... suggests that she had been on a whistle-stop tour visiting her soldier sons and singing at benefits. Her pianist was Edith Evans and a soprano, Florence French, also performed. So maybe the younger woman is one of them.

Magner, eldest son of John Magner, Clonmel, to Catherine (Kitty) Smyth, daughter of Mr. Edmund Smyth, Cattle Dealer, Clonmel So it may be William Magner, the original founder of Magners/Bulmers.

According to GRO, marriage took place at Tramore RC Church. Celebrant was Thomas O'Brien C.C. Witnesses were John Francis Magner and Mary J Smyth. William J's address was given as Mitchel Street Clonmel. Occupation Merchant.

if John Magner Snr was c.70 in this pic, it would tally with a subsequent Death record in 1926, where he was described as Hotel Proprietor aged 79
