  Details of the 'Nestor' when new - SMH 14/1/1913 p.10 - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/15390253 " The NESTOR [Blue Funnel Line] of 1913 had a long and busy life. During World War I she was a troopship for the Australian Expeditionary Force, and in World War II evacuated British children to Australia. She completed her final round voyage to Australia in 1950 and was broken up at Faslane. " from iancoombe.tripod.com/id25.html Interesting to see in this postcard album that by 1916 the Blue Funnel had been painted out - acms.sl.nsw.gov.au/item/itemDetailPaged.aspx?itemID=447918# Evidently the funnel was the "highest ever built" -

Barnes seems to have had an interest in snapping the troopships as they left Melbourne, but I think this one was special as it carried his son away to war.
