They don't really look to me like Wallachian/Romanian soldiers of the late 19th or early 20th century. the shoe - Greece ?

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Greek Dance, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

These are in all probability irregulars who possibly fought on the Greek side during the Macedonian Struggle (1904-1908) a guerrilla campaign that pitted Greeks against Bulgarians for the control of the southern part of the region of Macedonia then still under Ottoman rule. See the photo below of Greek fighters from Monastir whose clothing appears very similar to that of the irregulars above.



Also note the long guns of the irregulars, most likely variants of the Mannlicher-Carcano rifle, an Italian version of an Austrian design that was adopted by the Hellenic royal army in the late 19th century. The Mannlicher was used extensively during the Macedonian Struggle (and much later gained permanent notoriety as the gun Lee Harvey Oswald used to allegedly shoot President John Kennedy).

As near as I can figure, the fellow standing at the front of the group is Prince Petar Petrovic Njegos, who can also be seen at upper right in the photo on this page about the royal family of Montenegro. According to text farther down that page, Prince Petar lived from 1889 to 1932.
