ClickKen04 Definitely Eamon de Valera! Hoping that's Margaret Pearse on the other side of the newsreel camera. Also hoping for help in identifying others...

That is Cathal Brugha front and centre with the hat and mac. Brugha died of wounds received in action against Free State troops on 7th July, 1922. Either Wikipedia is wrong with his date of death or the date in the catalogue is incorrect. Worthy of further research methinks.

Cheers Carol. Interesting of who might be who in this collective of political & Social Irish personnel of the time!
  • National Library of Ireland on The Commons said:
John Thanks, should have recognized Cathal Brugha myself. You're absolutely right - Brugha died on Friday, 7 July 1922, so that blows our original dating out of the water...

I could not find any film made in 1960 Dublin, but here is a good film of "C I E in the 1960's" just to pass the time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X-smrTKK54

Could it be this: www.imdb.com/title/tt0054120/locations "A Terrible Beauty"? ":In Ireland, it's 1941 and Irish Republicans have made a tentative bond with Nazi Germany to help Ireland in its never-ending struggle with Great Britain." Movie was filmed in Dublin

Anybody see Robert Mitchum in the crowd? lol They filmed "Michael Collins" and "Angela's Ashes" here, but those are much later than the 60's.

It might be a TV ad, although obviously not for RTE. Or it could be a newsreel...
