Mary Richardson was also at the Derby with Emily Davidson when Davidson ran in front of the kings horse. Just afterwards she was attacked by the crowd and sought refuge in Epsom Downs Station. She joined the Labour Party in 1919 and stood for parliament in Acton, Bury St Edmunds, Aldershot and London but was never elected. In 1934 she joined Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists and became the Organising Secretary of the Women's Section. She left the party in 1935 and played no further roll in politics.
