Now more appropriately named Ashe Street. Maybe we might continue in this tradition and name nearby Russell Street as ORahilly Street. This Sir john Russell a British PM and supporter of Laissez Faire economics was no friend of the Irish in time of famine. This query on Russell Street is now unclear and the indications are that it was not Lord John Russell British PM but named after a local property owner or landlord which was normal practice. Russell Street apparently was named in1837 and Lord John was relatively unknown by then.

I'm trying to locate photos of a pub that was on Nelson in 1911 and some time after that. It was at 54 Nelson and called Nagle's.

There were 55 houses on Nelson street. The last few seem to make up what was Bailys as seen on the photo. According to the 1911 census the occupants of No 53 were James Nagle and his occupation was Tea and Spirit Merchant. In the 1901 census no 52 appears to have been a Grocer and Publican called Doyle, I think this might have been the pub called The Railway up to the 1990's.
