  I do not believe this is an image of a lead mine. The white "spot" at the top of the mountain is "The Snowshoe" of Snowshoe Mountain. In order to see it from this angle, this photo would have to have been taken from Willow Creek in the town of Creede itself. The creek runs through the middle of town and the buildings don't appear to be related to mining. I think those are simply commercial, residential, and storage buildings similar to those that abut Willow Creek in the town of Creede in the present day.

It looks like all the photos that Andreas Feininger took in and near Creede were lumped back in the 1940s under a general assignment title related to lead mining instead of individual photo captions. Here's an interesting then&now pairing from Zyrcster, who identified another image in this series as showing Mt.   Yes, this is taken at the end of Cliff Street. The big building on the right would later become part of the Creede Repertory Theatre. You can see the front of that building on their website history page about 20 years later... www.creederep.org/about/history.html

  Feininger would have been standing behind this building, between it and the mountain you can see in the theatre photo. Willow Creek runs behind this building in their photo, roughly parallel with the main street.
