United Air Lines Douglas DC-3 (DC-3A-197), NC16071 (c/n 1911) (note fleet number "71" under the nose cone), "Mainliner Los Angeles." See: www.aerialvisuals.ca/AirframeDossier.php?Serial=69164 UPDATE (22-Nov-2018) This aircraft is still extant and on display at the Science Museum at Wroughton, near Swindon, England. Here is a photo by Flickr user Chris England:

The fleet number "74" denotes this as United Air Lines' ill-fated Douglas DC-3 (DC-3A-197), registered NC16074 (c/n 1914). NC16074 was in service for a very short time after its delivery to United Airlines on December 1, 1936. The airliner would crash on October 17, 1937, with the loss of all 19 souls (3 crew/16 passengers) aboard, when it flew into the slope of Haydens Peak, WY on Humpy Ridge at an elevation of approximately 10,000-feet.
