    uminarampart dunno whos the kid, but he is immortalized on a glass negative. There is a great series of photos of the building of the Ultimo Powerhouse (now the Powerhouse Museum) in Photo Investigator. Electricity needed primarily for the new tramway network and street lighting. Tramcar House was next door.

    I think it was on the site of Belmore Park off Pitt St and of course pre-dated both the Central Station we know today and the City Railway.

    Mich highplains68 As mentioned above, this tramway house was next to the Ultimo Powerhouse, now the Powerhouse Museum. I think the tramcar house is still there, see GoogleMapsSatellite photo - maps.google.com.au/maps?q=Sydney+NSW&hl=en&ll=-33...
