    says 6/27/13 reversed along left side, but this is obviously lifted from somebody else. Might be a copyright date faded out bottom right

    OK. But I doubt that Bain News Service added a caption in German to their photos. It looks like a picture of another picture, probably a postcard.

    rjones0856: The Bain News Service did purchase images from other commercial agencies and then reproduced those images for distribution. This may be one of those cases. A description of the Bain Collection, which mentions this fact, can be found here.

    I hope I didn't give the impression I was shocked or upset by this. I merely meant that the picture was likely to be older than the date visible on the negative. Just for the record, by the way, I think this photo series is absolutely wonderful. It's like getting to go to a new museum exhibit every Monday or so.
