This is the best photo I have ever seen of Evers, even if it is a tad underexposed. If he played today, he would never make the Hall of Fame. However, players are chosen as to how they performed versus their peers, and he was a great second baseman, better than Fred Merkle, he of boner fame, from the NY Giants.

Sad that the cubbies hadn't won a very recent World Series, even when he was playing.

Pineapple, Johnny Evers played for the Cubs from 1902 to 1913, including both years they won the World Series (1907and 1908).
  • Michael DeVowe said:
Wow! I love the DOF. This is great.

This is the Evers of "Tinker to Evers to Chance" fame from the baseball poem, "Baseball's Sad Lexicon" by Franklin Pierce Adams.(1910)
