    Both of them had pretty neat handwriting !!

    Everybody had neat handwriting then. Ball point pens hadn't been invented and fountain pens only worked properly if you wrote slowly. Handwriting practice was a key part of primary education in those days.

    This was Don Bradman's Test debut. Australia were badly beaten after their two opening bowlers broke down. Bradman was dropped from the team for the next Test.
