The "WZD" registration on the Ford Anglia dates from 1962/3 so that further confirms the likely date for the photo.

It's really nice to see the genuine, relaxed smiles... it's easy to think of everything before 1960 as dour due to all the posed photos and lack of color film. So this is a nice reminder that people have always been regular folk.

Although dates scratched on the Bain negatives may not always indicate the date the photograph was made (some negatives bear multiple dates), it looks as though February 1913 would be an accurate date for the photograph. This photographic print of Elizabeth Freeman en route to the parade is dated Feb. 17, 1913: hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/cph.3b01190 (I'm wondering if the woman smiling on the right in this photograph is, in fact, Elizabeth Freeman.) We'll add date information to the source description and reload it to Flickr. Some Bain photos--among them, the photo of Elizabeth Freeman en route--were included in an essay on the 1913 suffrage parade that highlights the variety of Library of Congress materials that shed light on the event: memory.loc.gov/ammem/awhhtml/aw01e/aw01e.html

I feel sorry for the poor lady on the right who seems to be wearing a commonly ill-fitting vulcanite denture. Actually you could not be too poor to even be able to get any denture. I am dental technician for 30 years and tend to notice these things. Sorry. The Brooklyn Museum just had a great exhibit on The Woman's Suffrage Movement that I went to see at the top floor.

FYI – It appears that, since bringing these photographs together as the excellent Women Striving Forward ... set, tags and notes have become disabled for photographs within that set.
