In the foreground is the XC-99 model. Even more interesting is the model behind and to the left. Basically a reworked B-36 Peacemaker with swept wings and 8 Pratt and Whitney J57 jet engines, Convair proposed this aircraft to the Air Force as the YB-60. Two aircraft were built, but the faster and better flying Boeing B-52 Stratofortress won the contract.

I remember the model being in storage. I don't know what happened to it.

Some real rarities and oddities in this image. There's the Convair XC-99 and a Douglas F3D Skyknight as well as a C-124 Globemaster II and some other things I can't identify straight off.

Nice shot! A Tigercat and a Skyknight in ONE frame! And, way in the upper left, the one and only prototype of the XC-99 transport version of the B-36 Peacemaker.
