It seems to say "arcad" (presumably arcade) on the door, and also on the windows to the right if you get out the image processing software.

    Sharman D. Neill, Belfast ??

beachcomber australia I'm not sure the window's the right shape for that. About the right number of clocks, though. I was just trawling the Queen's Arcade myself. Edit: On second thoughts (well, glance), I think you may be right. It seems to have the same clock over the door.

The "Arcade" writing must actually be across the road, not over the door. Neill's is directly opposite the Queen's Arcade.

hey NYPL! did you know that you can change the "date taken" there on the right of the photo page? ---> that way, this page becomes much, much more interesting: www.flickr.com/photos/nypl/archives/date-taken/

That's a great idea, and it's already in the works for the Commons items that you see here. Since the JPGs that NYPL uploaded don't contain the header information which Flickr uses to automatically generate its date_taken field, the items default to the date they were uploaded. We did upload machine-tags with the original dates for most items. And we'll soon be updating the date_taken field with this information.

Concourse clock at Grand Central Station, New York, New York (LOC)

    Unmistakeable! Lovely image.
However, re: the label "Grand Central Station" - my friend in NYC always tell me, sternly, that is it "Grand Central Terminal". So, which is the correct name, please?
  • Jon (LOC P&P) said:
Good question clive422. I looked through the other images we have of the building and all but this one and three taken at the same time use Grand Central Terminal. I'm going to ask the catalogers if we should change this one and the other three that say Grand Central Station so they match all of our other records.
