Mrs. Viola Sievers, one of the wipers at the roundhouse giving a giant "H" class locomotive a bath of live steam, Clinton, Iowa. Mrs. Sievers is the sole support of her mother and has a son-in-law in the Army (LOC)

Class H were 4-8-4 "Northern" locomotives used in both freight and passenger service. They were delivered in 1929 and rebuilt in 1940, and were apparently some of the largest Northerns ever built. (from www.steamlocomotive.com/northern/cnw.shtml)
