Springsure is a town and a locality in the Central Highlands Region, Queensland, Australia. The town takes its name from a pastoral run name used from 1861, so named because of a permanent spring on the run.[2][3] The area was originally occupied by Aboriginal people, for thousands of years. Springsure State School opened on 14 March 1870.[ On 6 December 1919, the Springsure State School Memorial Fountain was dedicated by Mrs Annie Wheeler (née Laurie), a former pupil at the school. Alberton is a rural locality in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The Aboriginal name for the area was Wobbomerijee (where Wobum means mud and Mudtheri means sticky). European settlement began in 1863 when the first settlers arrived, mostly German immigrants. A German school was established early in the 1870s beside the church. The Alberton Provisional School opened on 13 May 1876 with children attending German school on only one day a week. On 13 October 1884 the provisional school became the Alberton State School. In 1886, a new larger Lutheran church (the present St Peter's at 187 Alberton Road) was built. It was consecrated in 1887 by Rev Hellmuth. The German school was demolished in 1919.
