    Nice one. I see that the Sergeants had their stripes on the cuffs of their sleeves? The Inspector has a similar uniform but with a badge of some sort on his sleeve and carried a walking stick. Not sure where the Courthouse was but the Waterford Garda Station was on Adelphi Quay up until relatively recently.

    Swordscookie Have a look on our Flickr Map. It's on the corner of Otteran Place and Catherine Street - the front is awfully imposing with pillars, etc. so this must have been taken at a side entrance...

    Wonderful shot, with the exception of the Super and Chief the average age is probably about 24. They look like a very fit and active group of men but the conditions in those days were very tough and you might find that not many of them lasted the pace!

    The sergeant seated to the right of the officer (from our viewpoint) and the Garda standing immediately behind the officers are wearing a shield-shaped pins on their uniforms - probably indicative of their membership of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association. Permission was given to PTTA members to wear their Pioneer Pin on their uniforms (according to message #8 in this link: irishconstabulary.com/the-civic-guard-t1554.html)
