'Nah-pooh' is in the lyrics to that song 'Good-byee', isn't it? "Bonsoir old thing, cheerio, chin-chin; nah-poo, toodle-oo, good-byee..."

Dru You are dead right, thank you! I couldn't understand what Nah-Pooh was about at all - so pleased...

According to this website, "No.11 General Hospital" was at Genoa in Italy - www.anzacday.org.au/digging/hospitals.html

There was one General and two Stationary Hospitals at Genoa. The first in a large hotel, the others in schools. Two of them already had patients and the other was being put in order. As there was no heating in the hotel, the building was intensely cold; it was, however, a very fine hotel with a marble staircase and beautiful baths, though at the time the baths were of little use, as there was no hot water. In the schools were some stoves which the patients thoroughly enjoyed. Later on we had an Infectious Hospital at Genoa, also a very nice hostel for sisters coming from the United Kingdom or moving about the country.

It's the very person who inspired me with my photography :) Although I kinda messed on with photography in my teens, it wasn't until I was in my mid-20s that I discovered Jimmys work and what he had singlehandedly achieved against all those odds. It taught me that it doesn't matter what age, sex or social standing you are that you can do so much. Once I'd finally mastered the basics (I wouldn't listen to anyone when a teenager!) I literally took off with my hobby. I've far more to show than what I dump onto Flickr now and then. One day it will be shown.. Jimmy was well known and well loved by so many in the North East. There were others too but this man opened my world.
