"Henry" Seimatsu (or Kiyomatsu) Kimura (1874 - 1958) Japanese evangelist and congregationalist minister. Sometimes referred to as "Hallelujah Kim" or "The Japanese Billy Sunday"

A cropped version of this photo ran in The Sunday Oregonian. (Portland, Ore.) August 06, 1916 with the caption: "Japan has an evangelist who Is known as "the Billy Sunday of Japan." He is Seimatsu Kimura, sometimes called "Hallelujah Kim." He had to leave home 25 years ago because of his espousal of the Christian religion, and he entered the Industrial Home and there earned an education. His monthly allowance was 25 cents. He devoted two-thirds of that and all of his spare time to a Sunday school for poor children. Two of his pupils there are now the wives of Christian missionaries in Hawaii and California. Kim came to America when still quite young, and at San Francisco pleaded with Dwight Moody, the evangelist, to help him get an education. He has been doing evangelistic work in Japan since 1901. He paid one visit to America during that period, especially to study the methods of Billy Sunday. He has used like methods in Japan and with great success.
